good evening kyoto

After a quick rest, we decided to head out for dinner at 5 p.m. Hokkyokusei Omurice was just around the corner so it made no sense for us to not pay it a visit. It wasn't surprising to find an empty restaurant at that hour, but they had much more to offer -really satisfying. Yasaka-jinja was just nearby but we decided to visit in the day so we went to Hanami-koji instead. I guess I had to believe in the first-timer's luck as we get to meet maikos and geishas on their way to work -some even took the taxi which resulted in many people waiting in front of some ochayas. There were signs saying things you shouldn't do to the geisha/maikos (life must've been tough to be stalked wherever they go) but I gotta admit that they are attractive subjects to photograph. They're dressed prettily for their job, and their makeup made them stood out from the crowd. Deeply obsessed by their beauty, I wish I could be back again to frame them in a larger picture.
After a leisurely stroll, we crossed the Kamo-river and entered Ponto-cho, another dream place for photographers. The narrow valleys and red lanterns made me imagined being in the Memoirs of Geisha (probably the first cliche thought of Kyoto). Speaking about Kyoto, I really loved Kyōsōgiga so check it out if you had time.
