Himeji was an hour away from Kobe via JR. Himeji Castle stood gracefully in its white glow for over four hundred years without being burned down or damaged by earthquakes. I didn't opt to enter the castle as it might take up more time than we have -but just admiring from a distance took me long enough. There were so many sakura trees around the castle I guess I'd have to come again in spring sometime later. Himeji gave a very peaceful feeling -probably the people living with the castle feels extra safe with their treasure. We ran into a Sunday market and bought some really cheap yet tasty small mandarins for our little picnic at the castle (with onigiri orz), and we got even more for Kazu-san as a separation gift!
