It was a spontaneous decision to visit Kōdaiji en route to Yasaka-jinja, so we came in without learning its story behind. The admission ticket had little wrote about Nene and her husband Hideyoshi, but the statues and ema clearly pointed out how lovey-dovey this couple were centuries ago. Kōdaiji is not just a temple, but also a place where Nene lived after her husband's death, and also where the both of them were buried. The stone garden is definitely my favourite, but I also loved everything about the garden's landscape -can't help imagining myself as nun Nene strolling around this space full of zen. The path would lead you uphill to the observatory, where you could see Kyoto Tower and Yasaka Pagoda before leaving this beautiful place.
