the garden of tenryū-ji

Tenryū-ji wasn't in our plan until I walked past a really good poster featuring a pool in deep blue -too bad I didn't get a shot of how it looks like, but its attractiveness made me forget about visiting Kinkaku-ji and headed in straight. The temple charges visitors differently based on the places you wish to visit, so we paid a fee only enough for the garden (but the garden itself was already enough). Sōgenchi garden is a true gem even without telling its age. Seven hundred years of beauty surely wasn't at its best in the cloudy weather, but the light drizzle gave some photo opportunities. The garden lost most of its fall colors but the Sōgenchi retained its blue. It was quite a moody moment when I felt that my travel companions weren't not really enjoying this place as much as I do (a.k.a post-too-many-temples blue), but I knew if I don't visit this time I probably won't come again. The garden itself was really big so by the time we finished touring it was close to lunch time.

I made some little changes to the blog today to celebrate the free domain from participating in StartUp Weekend HK, and the images are a little larger than before :)
