At around 3:15pm, on my way back home from college, while I was happily listening to new songs that I've downloaded on my phone and singing along, I noticed an orange Proton Saga speeding behind my car from my rear view mirror. I continued to drive at a constant speed, but the car never slowed down.
Suddenly I heard a loud sound coming from the back and I knew that the car hit me.
By the time, I was driving on the fast lane so I couldn't stop my car. I quickly moved to the left side and wanted to look for a place to stop and check my car. However there were too many cars so I turned left at a junction into a small shop lot area.
Then I realised that the car wasn't following me, and I thought WTF how dare you to run after hitting my car.
After stopping and checking my car, I thought that wasn't a big matter (I only found out that the side bumper came out a little bit when I reached home) so I continued my way home.
After I drove out of the shop lot area, I saw that orange thing parked at the side of the road, with another car that was similar to mine. A young lady came out from the car.
At first I was dumb enough to think that the orange car looked for the wrong car owner to apologize, and stopped my car at the side of the road.
Then what I saw was so dramatic.
A guy with sunglasses opened the lady's car's door and started the engine.
The lady was frightened, shouting, banging the car, wanting the man to come off the car.
The man ignored everything and drove away.
[I just watched and did nothing because the incident stunned me. I have the slowest human reaction time orz.. Everything happened too fast.]
The lady saw my car stopped in front of her and immediately came to me.
She jumped on my car and told me that her car was stolen by that guy, and asked me whether I could try to get her car back.
[Tbh, at that moment I thought that it would be impossible to get it back since I am just an inexperienced driver. I can't go against rules, I can't drive fast, and I can't do anything when there are many cars on the road.]
The car was gone after I was blocked by a few cars. I couldn't do anything, I couldn't risk her life nor mine.
Safety always comes first on the road, that's what my dad taught me.
The lady was so frustrated because she left all of her important things in her car, she didn't even have her phone with her, so I lent her mine to call her relatives and the police for help.
Then I returned to the same spot to wait for her aunt to come. Then I left her and her aunt to settle it themselves. I didn't want to get into more trouble.
On the way home, (tbh) I felt so relieved.
“不幸中的大幸”, that was all I thought all the way home.
