Can't believe that we still have the energy to go all the way from Seoul Grand Park to Dongjak in the evening. It was my request to have a look at the Banpo Bridge, as I've been to Korea twice but have not yet seen this beautiful bridge, which is also the world's longest bridge fountain. You'll find many beautiful pictures online if you googled about this spot, and I immediately know that I have to go and shoot this bridge myself! I didn't know that this is also a popular spot for the locals to hangout on the weekends (especially during summer break), and it's a really nice experience to be able to be a part of them.
Seoul's subway map is forever confusing. Thank god that there are many apps available for your smartphones so you won't get lost when getting from one station to another. I used Subway Korea on my iPhone, and I find it really helpful when planning for our trips.
Bear in mind, the Banpo Bridge is located in the middle of nowhere (!)
You'll need to walk there. I'm not sure if there's bike rental anywhere, but we ended up walking exercising with the locals to reach the bridge.
I would say, don't follow the recommended route [1] provided on the KTO website. Dongjak is so far away from the Banpo Bridge. The first bridge you will reach from the Dongjak station is not the bridge you are looking for, and I find it absurd to walk for another 30 minutes to reach the Banpo Bridge. You'll see it in the pictures. The second route is shorter, and we went back to our dorms (Hyehwa station) from the Terminal Express Bus Station.
I'm really happy to be able to shoot the sunset at the Hangang River, and it's an interesting view to see ahjummas setting up their tripods to photograph it together (((o(*゚▽゚*)o)))
The road to Banpo bridge from Dongjak seems endlessly long. Forget about the sweat, the view's worth it (although my friends didn't appreciate it as much as I do). I really love the atmosphere, how these busy people finally found time to relax and socialize.
Along the path we saw people picnicking by the river, and many of them set up tents for camping.
I regretted for not buying any food or drinks from CU to have while admiring the view, especially when there's a couple having chimaek in front of us /droolsss
If you'll be going there, do bring a light jacket as it gets windy in the evening and cooler at night.
All photos edited with DxO FilmPack 3 and Lightroom 5.
I hope I'll be able to find time to post about our next stop!
