I woke up super early today (I wonder what's wrong with me, waking up earlier everyday), and had breakfast with my peer mentor and a friend, while consulting my senior about course enrollment which took place today.
After that, my friend and I went to a team building camp held by the school of engineering. I wasn't assigned into any of the "clans", so I just simply asked her whether I could join them. And yeah, that's what I did. Then I met some new people, mainly the locals this time. As expected, they were surprised when I spoke some broken Cantonese to them. It was quite boring earlier in the morning. We were asked to make at least 7 friends in the first section (I didn't, I only met 4), and in the second section we were asked to form small groups with different peer mentors. It was awkward at first. I kept quiet all the time, and just smiled like a baka.
The second task was a baka one. We were required to design a simple motto and find a group name to represent ourselves. By that time, we were still so unfamiliar with each other and things continued to stay awkward. I'm really sleepy today, up till now I'm still sleepy. Then this part ended with a stupid posing session and yelling out our motto. Afterwards, we had lunch.
The next session was fun. We played with balloons and it was really fun.
The end of the workshop was an activity which each clan will need to build a roller coaster track out of newspapers and other materials which has 3 triggers and allows 3 balls to move down freely. Our team managed to build one, and is the only one which the balls moved swiftly to the end. Good job our team!
The best thing of the day would be free lunch and dinner! (I'm a poor kid I know)
When I went back to my hall, I saw two pairs of cool sneakers outside my room. I thought, finally. Finally she's here. I couldn't imagine how will my roommate look like. Late check-in and small suitcases indicated that she's most probably a local student, and I am totally clueless about those sneakers. When I just started typing this post, she came back to the room. Our first meeting was... good? I guess. We said hi and started talking casually (not awkward at all, but I'm sleepy so I'm a bit quiet). Now she's unpacking her things and cleaning up her space. Then I got to know that she's a night person (I'm a morning person btw) and well, I hope we'll work it out.
I'm too sleepy, so please allow me to continue this post sometime later.
Good night.
