winskkuiss #1: bukchon hanok village, samcheongdong & ehwa womans university

All photos edited with DxO FilmPack 3.

Finally. Here comes part 1 from my summer exchange in Seoul, SK in Sungkyunkwan University (SKKU) from 24th June to 21st July (the graduation was on the 23rd, but I left earlier).
I uploaded most of my iPhone photos on Instagram, all under the tag #winskkuiss. I didn't have much time to process the photos from my DSLR during the exchange (well, I travel a lot and so... I shoot a lot), and I took even more after the exchange as we went along with dad's company trip to Nepal /lazyphotographerproblems

I met a bunch of new friends after arriving Seoul, most of them come from NTU, Singapore and I just got stuck with them throughout the month. I always thought Singaporeans are more ego but they proved that the statement doesn't apply to all of them.

My procrastination got me into trouble when I was packing for my exchange on the evening before departure. I realized my bag wasn't big enough to fit in a bigger lens (I stuffed in all my important gadgets (´⊙ω⊙`)), so I only brought the 50mm with my new baby Nikon Df to Seoul. Shooting only with the prime lens was a challenge to me as it means I can only adjust myself to the surroundings to frame the picture. I felt so jealous every time I see another friend of mine with a telephoto lens, it's so convenient to have one! But I still love my 50mm, it's really light and it produces photos with beautiful bokeh anytime!

I arrived in Incheon in the morning and met my friend in the airport. We took the airport limousine together to reach the dorms, and I met new friends on the bus! I got off at a wrong bus stop and was anxious when I didn't know what to do next. In the end I took a cab to the dorm, which was just 5 minutes away from the stop I got down. It was a little embarrassing but it's an experience which taught me how to deal with this kind of situation in the future. It wasn't easy at first since I didn't have a local phone number, which also translates into not having WiFi access at most places. Things turned out much better after I bought an EG SIM card from Myeongdong few days later.

We went out in the first afternoon to Bukchon Hanok Village, and walked around Samcheondong. I really liked the neighbourhood, it's a place with a mix of traditional and modern buildings with cute cafes along the clean street. Too bad I didn't get to take a perfect photo without tourists in the hanok village. My friends bought coffee from a cafe and I bought banana milk from a convenience store, well, still not really into iced Americano (๑╹っ╹๑)
We went to Ehwa Women's University after strolling around leisurely and exploring the little corners. I was really tired so I didn't walk up the stairs to have a good look of the university church. I have to admit, I regret for not spending time to fully explore this beautiful campus. Do pay a visit here before you go shopping around the area!

Stay tuned for part 2!
